Using the summer to mull things over I have decided to pull away from the idea of using the ‘British gangster’ genre as I can see that it wasn’t realistic and would have been almost impossible to produce the trailer without a budget. Louis and I have decided to go our separate ways therefore I have come up with the idea of creating a movie trailer based on one of my favorite books ‘Good Girls’ by Laura Ruby.
The book is about a girl called Audrey who is a 'good girl', a good student, daughter and friend but is caught doing something good girls don’t do on a camera phone. The photo spreads around her school and is sent to her parents. Audrey has to carry on with her life no matter what.
The book was written to highlight contemporary attitudes to teenage relationships and the pitfalls of modern technology. I decided to use the book for my starting point as you can go so many different ways with it, in the book, the not so good thing that Audrey does is a sexual act on a guy she was 'seeing' but I thought it might be an idea to change that and have the photo of her possibly hurting someone which would change the genre from a teen drama with hints of comedy to a teen drama with elements of horror.
Another reason for choosing this book is that it is easier for someone my age to come to terms with and relate to the contents of the book and also I have a lot of friends around my age that I can use for actors!
I will ask members of my class to reach the verdict of which way I will swing for my plot!
